Fulled Merino robe coat
Description
A robe coat, drawn from the wrap coats of the nineties — no fastening, no lapel, just a long open front that falls straight from the shoulder. The line is loose and unhurried, and because nothing closes it, the coat sits differently each time depending on how it is worn.
The wool is knitted rather than woven, then heavily fulled, which draws the surface into a fine looped texture and gives the cloth body while keeping it light and soft with a natural give. Seams are cut and left raw, turning what is usually an interior detail into a visible line running down the length of the coat — a quiet bit of structure inside an otherwise relaxed shape. It layers over most things and holds up through real winter cold.
