Cinched safari padded jacket

Description

A field jacket rebuilt for the city. The working parts of the original are kept — the flap chest pockets, the stand collar that closes all the way up, the concealed placket — but the proportions are drawn in and the fabric is not utility cloth. A drawcord gathers the waist and a panelled seam sets the line, so the jacket breaks cleanly above the hip and falls into a short flare below it.

The nylon carries a liquid metallic sheen that shifts as the light moves across it, soft rather than hard. Inside, a lightweight high-efficiency insulating fill holds warmth without bulk, so the jacket stays light on the shoulder through a cold day. It moves from the commute to a weekend outside without changing register.

* Professional wet cleaning, gentle cycle. Dark colours may release a small amount of excess dye in the first wash.
* After wearing, hang in a dry, airy place and brush off surface dust lightly — the piece will recover its shape on its own.
